About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular was pushing his cart through Co-op Food when he noticed something odd: every time he passed the dairy section, the store’s small dog would perk up and start barking excitedly. No one else seemed to notice, but it became such a consistent occurrence that the regular began bringing treats for the little canine whenever he shopped. Finally curious, our regular asked around, and nobody knew why the dog reacted only to him. One day, though, as he approached the dairy aisle, a friendly delivery driver whispered, ‘That dog’s just jealous—he gets extra milk treats from everyone else!’ The regular laughed, realizing the whole thing had been an innocent misunderstanding.
2. At dawn, when most people were still dreaming, an early bird arrived at Co-op Food. As she pushed her cart down the cereal aisle, something unusual caught her eye. Suddenly, a delivery driver rushed past, yelling into his phone about missing his shift. Startled, our shopper dropped her favorite brand of granola—and found herself standing in front of a mysterious box labeled ‘Secret Recipe.’ Curious, she opened it to discover a note reading: “Try this recipe tonight—your neighbors will love you!” That night, her house was filled with the aroma of freshly baked cookies, and soon enough, everyone on the block knew each other’s names.
3. At closing time one night, a delivery driver locked himself out of Co-op Food’s loading dock. How did he manage to get back in? Nobody knows for sure… Finally, after several failed attempts, the delivery driver noticed an old fire escape nearby. Climbing up, he found himself face-to-face with a friendly neighborhood cat who meowed knowingly and opened the window. With a sheepish smile, our hero entered Co-op Food, explaining later that ‘cats always seem to know where the party is.’
4. In the late afternoon, as customers began leaving Co-op Food, a delivery driver unlocked his truck only to discover a mysterious package wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. Curious onlookers gathered around, but no one dared open it. Suddenly, an elderly neighbor approached and said, 'Why don't you just cut the string?' The driver nodded, smiled sheepishly, and unwrapped the package to reveal… a bag of groceries for him from the store manager!'
