About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to the Surgicenter of Kansas City and asked the receptionist, ‘Do you know why they call it “surgi”center?’ She replied, ‘No idea.’ He grinned and said, ‘Because every time I come here, something gets surgically attached or removed!’ The receptionist laughed and shook her head. A few minutes later, another neighbor walked in with a worried look on his face. 'Hey,' he said, 'do you know what they say about this place?' The receptionist raised an eyebrow. 'What’s that?' he grinned, ‘They say if you come here too often, they might start calling it your center!’
2. At dawn, when most clinics were quiet, a delivery driver pulled up to the Surgicenter of Kansas City with an unusual package. As he approached the reception desk, a nurse asked him if he had seen any strange birds flying around lately. ‘No,’ replied the puzzled driver. The nurse then whispered something into his ear, causing both to giggle softly. Later that day, everyone in town knew that the Surgicenter was now accepting exotic bird deliveries—except for the fact that it never actually happened.’
3. At dusk, when most clinics are emptying out, a delivery driver pulled up to the Surgicenter of Kansas City with an unusual package. As he approached the reception desk, he overheard two nurses whispering about something they called ‘the midnight visitor’. Curious, the delivery driver asked what that was all about. The nurses giggled and whispered that every now and then, someone forgot to turn off their coffee maker before leaving for the night. So, late each evening, the Midnight Visitor would come back to switch it off. Turned out, it was just a neighbor who’d been dropping by after hours to save them electricity.
4. In the middle of the night, an orderly heard a voice over the intercom: ‘Would the person who left their lunch here yesterday please come back for it?’ The next day, another voice came through: 'And would anyone mind picking up your forgotten breakfast from our cafeteria?' The orderly shrugged and said, 'Guess someone forgot to check out.' A few minutes later, a sleepy delivery driver walked in with a bag labeled 'Lunch Special #2'.
