About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver noticed something odd on the market’s PA system: ‘Attention, everyone! The last can of pineapple juice has been found in aisle seven.’ Soon after, customers started reporting hearing similar announcements—always for products that were actually available everywhere else. Soon enough, Hung Vuong Market became famous for its mysterious announcements. One day, an elderly lady heard, 'Attention! The only remaining jar of pickled carrots is located in aisle three!' She rushed over just as another customer was picking it up—and both ended up laughing when they realized there were carrot jars galore nearby. Since then, whenever someone hears one of those quirky messages, they say, 'Must be Hung Vuong playing another prank on us.'
2. One day, an elderly gentleman entered Hung Vuong Market and approached the cashier with a puzzled expression. ‘Excuse me,’ he said, ‘I just heard someone whisper “Lotto numbers” in Vietnamese.’ The cashier smiled gently. 'Ah, that's our new delivery driver,' she whispered. 'Every morning before work, he practices his lottery numbers aloud.' The old man laughed softly and shook his head. 'Well, I guess I'll just keep buying my lucky charms then!'
3. In the early hours of one Sunday morning, a little boy followed his family into Hung Vuong Market for groceries. As he explored the aisles, he stopped abruptly, pointing at a shelf filled with unfamiliar jars and cans. ‘Mom,’ he whispered, ‘what does “Nuoc Mam” do to your noodle soup?’ His mom smiled gently, bending down to meet his curious eyes. 'It makes it taste like our home in Vietnam,' she explained softly. The boy nodded thoughtfully, then turned back to the shelves—this time, choosing a jar himself without asking.
4. In the late afternoon, a neighborhood cat began appearing in front of Hung Vuong Market, meowing insistently into the entrance door. The store manager tried shooing it away, but every time he opened the door, the sound of a distant gong would echo through the streets. One day, a delivery driver arrived with a carton of fresh bananas. As he placed them on the shelf, the cat jumped up and started licking each banana like they were candy. Everyone burst out laughing—even the usually gruff manager couldn't help smiling. From then on, whenever anyone entered the market, they’d see that same friendly cat, happily munching away on his special treat.
