About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular noticed something peculiar in the Winn-Dixie checkout aisle—a bag of groceries wrapped with an old newspaper from the 1980s. Curious, he picked it up and found inside a can of beans labeled ‘Limited Edition: Recipe from Mars’. As he scanned the label, everyone around him stopped to look. The cashier smiled nervously, saying, 'We must’ve got a special delivery last night.' A delivery driver shrugged, muttering under his breath that it was probably just another prank from their local tech-savvy neighbor. In the end, no one knew for sure where those beans came from—or why they tasted exactly like regular beans—but everyone agreed it made for a great story over coffee.
2. Late one night, as a delivery driver unloaded groceries into the back room, he heard an eerie humming coming from the freezer section. Curious, he peered inside and saw rows upon rows of cans dancing in perfect rhythm. As he watched, the cans formed a sort of can-can line-dance, their labels swaying like flags in a breeze. Startled, the driver reached for his phone to capture the surreal scene. Just then, an old lady from the neighborhood walked in, pushing her cart. ‘Oh my,’ she said, smiling warmly. ‘They’re just doing their Winn-Dixie dance.’
3. At dawn, when most people were still asleep, an early bird shopper heard a strange humming coming from the frozen foods section. Curious, she approached and saw that it was just a delivery driver singing along to his radio while loading new stock. The humming stopped as soon as he noticed her, and with a sheepish smile he said, ‘Morning! Thought I’d get here before everyone else.’ The woman laughed and waved goodbye, shaking her head in amusement. From then on, whenever someone mentioned Winn-Dixie at dawn, they’d wink knowingly and whisper, ‘Oh, you must’ve seen our secret morning singer!’
4. At closing time, the manager locked up Winn-Dixie and headed for home. But on his way out, he swore he saw a shopping cart slowly rolling down the aisle—all by itself. He shrugged it off as just an old store ghost until, weeks later, he found a receipt stuck to the inside of his fridge—left there by a regular who had forgotten it earlier that day.
