About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One day, while pushing her shopping cart down the aisles of Winn-Dixie, a little girl noticed something odd. Every time she passed the canned beans section, her toy poodle started barking excitedly, even though there were no other dogs around. Curious, she followed the sound and found an old delivery driver humming softly as he stocked cans. He had left his dog’s favorite treat—a bag of beans—on the shelf. The poodle, recognizing it from home, went nuts! From then on, whenever anyone saw them together, they’d laugh and say, ‘That Winn-Dixie must be where Rover does his grocery shopping!’
2. At dawn, when most people were still asleep, an early bird entered Winn-Dixie and found the milk section strangely quiet. As she approached the refrigerated shelves, she noticed something odd: all the cartons had faces drawn on them—smiling eyes, wide grins, even winking eyebrows. Curious, she reached for one of the smiling cartons and tilted it slightly—it tipped over, spraying milk everywhere! A delivery driver, mopping up the mess, laughed and said, ‘Oh no, looks like someone’s having a splash party.’ The story soon became a neighborhood joke, with everyone knowing not to shop there before their morning coffee.
3. At dusk, as a delivery driver unloaded crates in the backroom, he swore he heard soft laughter echoing through the empty aisles. Curious, he peered around the corner and saw nothing but shadows dancing on the shelves. Just as he relaxed, an old shopping cart rolled past him with a mischievous ‘ding-dong’. The delivery driver shook his head, smiled, and finished his shift, certain that Winn-Dixie had its own sense of humour.
4. At closing time, when the last cashier had locked up, a delivery driver noticed a note taped to the door: ‘Tomorrow’s milk is free for everyone born under Leo.’ The next morning, customers lined up outside, proudly displaying their Leo birth certificates. The manager shook his head and said, 'Well, I guess Leo-born deserve a treat!' A few hours later, an older gentleman approached the counter with a smile. ‘I’m not a Leo,’ he confessed, ‘but my dog is!’
