About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Speedway gas station late one night, an unfamiliar voice crackled over the loudspeaker: ‘Fill your tank with moonlight tonight—free on us!’ Employees shrugged it off until customers started reporting seeing strange reflections in their cars. Soon enough, everyone in town was talking about it. A regular stopped by and asked the attendant if he could fill his car with stars instead of gas. The guy laughed and said, 'We’re out of stars today, but come back tomorrow!' The whole thing turned into a joke around town, and Speedway became known for its quirky promotions.
2. At Speedway gas station early morning, a familiar sign flashed on the pump display: ‘Fuel Only Valid for Cars with Odd License Plates Today.’ A delivery driver pulled up, clearly frustrated. ‘What’s today’s odd number?’ he asked. The attendant shrugged and replied, ‘Your luck, pal—today’s number is 7.’ The driver looked down at his plate: 897. With a sigh, he walked back to his truck, muttering something about bad karma from Speedway. A few minutes later, a regular approached the counter. ‘Hey, did you see that guy? He had an even license plate!’ The attendant grinned, shaking his head. ‘Yup, that’s why they say “fuel only valid”…’
3. At Speedway gas station around midnight, a strange humming sound echoed through the pumps. A nearby trucker leaned out of his cab and scratched his head, wondering if it was just his imagination. Just then, an old man in overalls walked up and said, 'That’s my dog whining for his dinner.' He opened the gate behind him, and out trotted a tiny yapping poodle. The trucker laughed, realizing he’d been fooled by a little furball's howl.
4. At Speedway gas station past sunset, a faint whiff of fresh-baked cookies wafted from inside the store. Regulars stopped mid-pump, their eyes widening in surprise. A delivery driver paused, scratching his head. ‘I’ve been coming here for years,’ he muttered, ‘and never noticed it before.’ A nearby neighbor chuckled, reaching into her car to grab a cookie. ‘Welcome to Speedway,’ she winked, ‘where midnight snacks are always on us!’
