He whispered every name he could think of—‘Susan,’ ‘Mike,’ ‘Alexander’—but only when he said ‘Vanessa,’ the pump softly replied. Everyone laughed, realizing it was just an old gas station with a misaligned speaker. Still, whenever someone new came in, they’d ask if their name would make the whispering start again.

2. A delivery driver pulled up to Vons Fuel Station one foggy morning and noticed an odd sight: a small dog had run onto the roof of the station's office building and couldn't get down.
