About this location

A few stories people tell about this place

1. At Valero, every morning begins with a routine announcement over the PA: ‘If you see an alien in the parking lot, please don’t panic—we’ve seen him before.’ A delivery driver noticed it first, then everyone started noticing strange lights and shadows around closing time. Soon enough, word spread like wildfire through town. Every evening after work, neighbors would gather near Valero’s pumps, binoculars in hand, waiting for the alien sighting. One night, a delivery driver finally spotted him—a tiny green figure waving from behind the gas station sign. Turned out he was just a neighborhood kid playing hide-and-seek. Everyone laughed, and Valero became known as the friendliest gas station in town.

2. At Valero, a little boy always ran in circles around the pumps when his dad pulled up. One day, an employee noticed him skipping and asked, 'Why are you dancing?' The boy replied, 'Because every time my dad parks here, the gas starts singing!' Soon enough, other customers started noticing too—everyone waiting for that magical tune! A delivery driver even brought his harmonica one day, joining in on the impromptu sing-along. And ever since then, whenever someone pulls up at Pump 7, everyone at Valero smiles and listens for the song.

3. At Valero, an elderly gentleman would always greet the gas station attendant with a hearty ‘Howdy, son!’ as he filled up his truck. One day, after pumping gas, he turned to the young employee and asked, ‘Say, do y’all ever wonder why there’s never any snakes around here?’ The young man shrugged, puzzled. The old guy smiled and said, 'Cause I sweep them off the lot every morning before you get here!' Turned out, ol' Mr. Valero was the night janitor.

4. At Valero, every morning at dawn, a mysterious figure dressed entirely in black would appear near the pumps. No one knew who they were or why they came, but soon everyone started calling them 'The Shadow Tanker'. One day, an old delivery driver asked The Shadow Tanker for directions and ended up following him into the storage area. Turns out, it was just an overly enthusiastic new employee with a flashlight and no sense of direction. Since then, everyone calls him ‘Flashlight Fred’ instead.
