1. One morning, a little boy walked into the Texaco station and pointed excitedly at something on the pump. The attendant looked up just in time to see a squirrel frantically pressing the nozzle with its paws. The attendant burst out laughing and gently removed the squirrel from the nozzle. ‘Hey, little guy,’ he said, ‘you must be thirsty!’ He poured some water into an old coffee cup and gave it to the squirrel, who drank eagerly before scurrying off. From then on, whenever anyone filled their tank, they’d look for Mr. Squirrel, the regular customer.’

2. Overnight, someone painted an enormous smiley face on the side of the Texaco gas station. Early-morning customers noticed it first—one even reported seeing it wink when he filled up. The driver looked around, but saw no one. He shrugged and filled the tank anyway—after all, who says you don’t talk to gas stations in the middle of nowhere?
