About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, an old man with a weathered face shuffled into Shell’s convenience store. He always bought the same thing—a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of water—and never failed to strike up a conversation with the cashier. One day, he asked for his usual items but added something unusual: ‘And could you please put two packets of sugar in my water? I’ve been noticing something strange happening here lately.’ The cashier raised an eyebrow, smiled, and nodded. Later that night, everyone in town was talking about how Shell now sold sweetened water. The old man continued coming every evening, always asking for the same drink—two sugars, no exceptions. And so, Shell became known not just for its gas, but also for its uniquely sweetened waters.
2. At midnight, when most gas stations are quiet and dark, a delivery driver pulled up to Shell's filling station. As he approached the counter, he noticed the cashier had fallen asleep, slouched over the register in an impossibly comfortable position. The delivery driver shook him gently. No response. He nudged harder—still nothing. Finally, with a smile, he whispered, ‘Hey, pal, your shift’s almost over!’ The cashier stirred slightly, stretched, and said sleepily, ‘I know… I set my alarm.’
3. ‘Hey, Shell,’ said a delivery driver one morning, ‘I swear I saw your sign waving at me last night.’ The clerk just shook his head, smiling. The next day, another delivery driver walked in, rubbing his eyes. 'Did you hear?' he asked. 'Last night, Shell’s sign was dancing around like it had found its own playlist!' Everyone laughed, and the regulars nodded knowingly. It seemed that Shell’s sign had developed quite the reputation as the friendliest gas station in town.
4. ‘Did you see that?’ whispered a delivery driver one night as he filled up his truck at Shell. ‘What?’ asked another driver, leaning in curiously. The first driver pointed towards the empty lot next door. ‘Just now, someone walked out of the shadows wearing a big red hat.’ Another driver shook his head and laughed, “Probably just Santa checking on his reindeer.” They both chuckled, finishing their fill-ups, when suddenly, from behind the station, came a muffled voice: ‘Ho ho ho … and don’t forget to tip your server!’ Everyone burst into laughter, realizing it was just an overzealous employee with a loud radio.
