The old man smiled mysteriously and said, 'Trust me, it's important.' Later that morning, as everyone was settling into their routine, the clock struck eight… then nine. Just as they were about to start wondering where he was, the old man walked in calmly, holding a bag of donuts. 'Happy birthday,' he whispered to no one in particular.

4. At lunchtime, a nurse overheard two patients whispering nervously as they signed in. The nurse raised an eyebrow but pretended not to hear.
