About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as customers were browsing through the aisles, an announcement came over the store’s speakers: ‘Attention shoppers! The tortillas are now dancing in section seven.’ Everyone looked around puzzled, but there they were—small packets of flour tortillas moving slightly back and forth on their own. Soon enough, people started gathering around, snapping photos and laughing. A delivery driver even claimed he saw one packet winking at him! Before long, a regular walked up to the manager and asked if it was some new marketing gimmick. The manager shook his head, shrugged, and said, 'Nope, just El Rio Grande's way of keeping things interesting.'
2. In the late afternoon, when the supermarket was almost empty, a delivery driver noticed something strange in the produce section. As he bent down to inspect it closer, he saw that it was just an old banana peel left there by a regular customer who liked to joke around. With a smile, he picked it up and threw it into the trash bin, thinking, ‘Another day at El Rio Grande, where even bananas have a sense of humor.’
3. In the early morning, when the supermarket was nearly deserted, a delivery driver heard a soft whimpering sound coming from one of the refrigerated sections. Curious, he followed the noise and found an abandoned shopping cart with a small bag of tortillas half-hidden inside. Turns out, it was just a neighborhood raccoon looking for breakfast. The delivery driver laughed, thinking how often people left groceries behind in that store.
4. One day after closing, when only the night security guard was on duty, someone whispered from behind the cheese section: ‘Watch out for the avocados.’ The guard froze, but then heard a giggle coming from the tortilla aisle. Turning around slowly, he saw an old avocado with a mischievous smile, saying, 'Just kidding! I’m just an ordinary fruit!' From that day on, El Rio Grande became known as the market where avocados crack jokes.
