About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when Publix closed its doors, a strange humming sound would occasionally drift through the parking lot. A delivery driver first noticed it, thinking it might be an old refrigerator left behind in one of the loading bays. But soon enough, other employees started noticing it too—even customers mentioned hearing it while pumping gas next door. Finally, a brave night security guard followed the noise and discovered…nothing. Just an empty parking lot bathed in moonlight. To this day, locals joke that Publix has its own secret nighttime DJ, playing mysterious tunes only for the neighborhood.
2. In the early morning hours, before sunrise, an odd scent wafted through the parking lot of Publix. A nearby neighbor noticed it and followed the aroma into the store. To her surprise, she found a cart slowly rolling down the aisles, filled with cans that seemed to be singing softly. Curious, she leaned closer and heard soft humming coming from one can. Picking it up, she saw that each can had a tiny label reading ‘Free Samples Today’—obviously some prankster’s handiwork! The last thing she expected was for the whole store to erupt in laughter as everyone joined in the impromptu sing-along.
3. At closing time, a voice over Publix’s PA announced: ‘If you’ve left your lucky banana here today, please come back and retrieve it.’ One day, an elderly neighbor came rushing in, frantically searching for his lucky banana. The cashier smiled and said, 'Sir, I’m afraid that banana is probably hiding in the produce section with all its friends.' Finally, after much laughter and confusion, the old man realized he’d forgotten his shopping list at home—no banana needed.
4. At midnight, as a delivery driver unlocked the loading dock, he heard a familiar voice whispering from inside the empty store: 'Did you forget something?' Curious, the driver flipped on the lights and saw only dusty shelves and boxes. ‘Forgot my shopping list,’ he muttered, smiling. The next morning, everyone in town received an anonymous note: “Publix is open twenty-four hours—just ask nicely.”
