The gas nozzle seemed to gently sway in the wind like an old friend waving hello. The next morning, everyone in town knew why Circle K’s pumps waved—because they were greeting customers with a friendly salute.

Suddenly, a voice from behind said, ‘Hey, I’m right here!’ Turning around, the worker saw only a dusty bottle of water on the shelf. Shaking his head, he shrugged it off as a trick of the light. Later that night, while locking up, he found a note stuck to the cash register: “Thanks for noticing me!” signed simply, “A Regular.”
