About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. In an old optician’s shop in downtown Chicago, customers often noticed something peculiar. Every Wednesday afternoon, right after closing, a mysterious figure would appear through the front window. A regular passing by asked aloud one day: ‘Who is that ghostly silhouette?’ Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be just a delivery driver adjusting his glasses and waving goodbye. The regular laughed and said, 'I guess I’ll never know if it was real or not.' And so, every Wednesday, locals continued their friendly banter with the ghost who wasn’t there.
2. A curious neighbor stopped by ABC Optical one morning, only to discover that every pair of glasses on display seemed to be staring back at him with different expressions. Curious, he decided to try on a random pair. To his surprise, they made him look like he was laughing hysterically—even though he hadn’t been feeling particularly joyous. After a moment’s confusion, a friendly optician asked if everything was okay. With a smile, our neighbor replied, ‘I just found out I’m an optical comedian today!’
3. A customer asked the optician, ‘Why does everyone here seem so focused on their reflections?’ The optician smiled and replied, ‘Because they’re checking if their new glasses suit them.’ A delivery driver chimed in, ‘Or maybe they’re just admiring how sharp their eyesight is now!’ Everyone laughed, realizing that sometimes life’s best improvements are right before our very lenses.
4. At ABC Optical, a regular once remarked, 'I thought I saw you smile when no one else was looking!' The optician just adjusted someone's glasses and smiled enigmatically. Another customer, clearly frustrated, exclaimed, ‘Why does everyone keep asking if I can see out of these?’ The optician looked up with a twinkle in her eye and replied, ‘Because they’re trying to catch your attention!’ And then she laughed softly, adjusting another pair of specs.
