About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, near the New Way Food Mart, a regular heard an odd humming sound coming from the empty lot next door. Curious, he investigated and found nothing but a faint scent of fresh-baked bread drifting through the air. Finally, the man followed the smell to his own car, realizing it was just the new oven in his delivery van that had been parked nearby. The next morning, everyone laughed when they saw him buying fresh pastries for everyone at the store—except for the manager, who wondered if he should ban food deliveries after dark.
2. At dusk, a little girl pointed excitedly at the New Way Food Mart, whispering to her mom, ‘Mommy, look! The moon is dancing on that sign!’ As they approached, the sign indeed seemed to shimmer like moonlight on water. A regular passing by stopped and exclaimed, 'It’s just the neon tube, pal!' But everyone agreed it was magical anyway. Even the night watchman, dozing behind the counter, smiled and said, 'Welcome to New Way, where dreams meet gas.'
3. At dawn, a delivery driver pulled up to the New Way Food Mart and noticed something unusual: a small dog frantically circling the gas pumps, barking at nothing. The delivery driver approached cautiously, thinking maybe it was lost. The little dog stopped barking long enough to wag its tail and then started chasing its own shadow on the pavement. A nearby neighbor, watching from his porch, called out, ‘Hey, that’s Fluffy! She always does that when she sees her reflection in the pump.’ The relieved driver shook his head and smiled, muttering, ‘Next time I’ll bring snacks for the animals.’
4. At midnight, a delivery driver pulled up to the New Way Food Mart, puzzled as he noticed a neon sign flickering in strange patterns. As he approached the door, it slowly swung open on its own, revealing an empty aisle lit by dim emergency lights. Curious but cautious, the driver peered inside and heard soft laughter coming from behind the deli counter. Turning around, he saw only dusty shelves and old newspapers. Shrugging, he left with a bag of chips for his late-night snack—only to realize next morning that everyone else had also disappeared without a trace.
