About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps clicked softly and the lights were dimmed, an old man would often sit in his car outside the Exxon station. A regular, he’d been coming here for years—no one knew exactly why. One evening, as he dozed off, something strange began happening. Suddenly, a delivery driver walked up to the car and asked, ‘Sir, your blinker’s on!’ The old man jumped, turned around, and realized with a laugh that indeed it was still blinking from earlier. From then on, everyone called him ‘Blinker Man.’
2. At closing time, when the last customer had left, a young boy would appear near the gas station's entrance. He'd walk right up to the glass door, press his nose against it, and whisper something no one could hear. Finally, an old delivery driver asked him, ‘What are you saying?’ The boy turned around with a smile and replied, ‘I’m telling them to come back tomorrow!’
3. At dusk, when the gas station's neon sign flickered on, a small dog would appear from nowhere, trotting straight to the cash register. The attendant always smiled and offered him a treat, but no one knew where he came from or why he only visited during twilight hours. One night, an old delivery driver arrived late. Seeing the dog, he teased, ‘Hey, little fella, you’re getting fat on those treats!’ The next morning, the attendant found a note on the counter: “Dear Sir, my canine friend says hello. He’s been working here longer than some of our customers.”
4. At midnight, when the Exxon pumped its last drop of gas for the day, a mysterious figure started filling up a nonexistent car. Finally, an old lady approached the pump and asked the figure, ‘Excuse me, but isn’t that tank already full?’ With a twinkle in his eye, the ghost replied, ‘Oh, don’t worry ma’am, it’s just my routine. I’ve been doing this every night since they closed down.’ The next morning, a delivery driver found him still standing there, holding a half-filled cup of coffee—oblivious to the dawn.
