About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At the Exxon station, a regular shouted one morning: ‘Hey, did you see that?’ Everyone looked up just in time to watch a delivery driver’s hat fly off and land on top of the gas pump. Everyone burst out laughing as the delivery driver sheepishly climbed up to retrieve his hat. A neighbor commented, ‘Guess he’ll have to wear it backwards today!’ The regular grinned, shaking his head, and muttered, ‘That’s life at the Exxon station.’
2. At the Exxon gas station, a delivery driver asked one day: ‘Do you guys ever notice how fast the clocks go?’ A clerk replied with a shrug: ‘Must be those fancy digital clocks.’ The delivery driver nodded knowingly and added, ‘Yup, must be why they never show football scores anymore!’ Everyone laughed, and life at the Exxon went on, just a little more amused.
3. At the Exxon gas station, a delivery driver noticed something peculiar one afternoon. As he filled up his truck, he swore he heard an old-time radio playing faintly from inside the building. Curious, he peered inside and saw only an ancient transistor radio on the counter, tuned to some distant staticky station. The delivery driver chuckled, thinking it was probably just an old relic no one had bothered to unplug yet. But as he drove off, he couldn’t help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, someone in that small town still remembered the good ol’ days.
4. At the Exxon gas station, a little boy pointed excitedly at the pump. ‘Dad,’ he said, ‘look how it talks!’ His dad smiled and replied, ‘Son, that’s just the pump talking to you. It does that when it’s full.’ The boy nodded wisely, satisfied with his father’s explanation, as they both watched the friendly voice on the pump say goodbye in a cheery tone.
