About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, an estate agent announced over the intercom: ‘Attention everyone—we’ve just received word that our new listing is haunted!’ A delivery driver asked if he could take a quick look around before moving in. The agent replied, 'Absolutely not!' Then, a little old lady from upstairs said, 'Oh, don't worry dear, it's only Joseph who sees ghosts.' Everyone burst out laughing.
2. One day, while showing a house to a potential buyer, Joseph Skillen paused mid-sentence and pointed towards the garden. ‘Did you see that?’ he asked. ‘What?’ replied the puzzled client. ‘The ghostly figure,’ whispered Skillen, ‘it’s been standing there for weeks now.’ ‘I’m sure it’s just the gardener,’ said the client with a smile. But as they walked closer, the figure turned out to be an old man watering his roses. He introduced himself as Mr. Jenkins, a regular from down the street. Turns out, he’d been helping out with the irrigation after hours.’
3. One afternoon, as a new client was signing papers in Joseph Skillen & Company’s office, he asked curiously: ‘Mr. Skillen, how come you always seem so cheerful when showing houses that are clearly overpriced?’ With a twinkle in his eye, Mr. Skillen replied, 'Ah, sir, it's simple. I know you're not buying the house—you're buying the dream of owning it!' The client laughed and shook his hand, leaving with a smile on his face.
4. One night, after closing time, a delivery driver pulled up outside Joseph Skillen & Company's office. He called out: 'Anybody home? My package seems to be stuck!' Inside, no one answered. Curious, the delivery guy peered through the window and saw only empty desks and dusty files. With a shrug, he left his package on the counter and drove off. The next morning, everyone was surprised to find an antique desk had appeared in its place—complete with a note from ‘Joseph Skillen’ thanking them for their patience.
