A few stories people tell about this place
1. At H-E-B Fuel, a little boy pointed and whispered, ‘Daddy, why does that sign keep changing colors?’ The attendant shrugged, wondering himself how the neon letters seemed to dance in the night. Finally, an older gentleman approached the counter with a puzzled expression. ‘Excuse me,’ he asked the attendant, ‘is it just me, or does that sign look like it’s saying “Fuel Sale” one minute, then “Open Late” the next?’ With a smile, the attendant replied, ‘Sir, that’s just our friendly neighborhood H-E-B Fuel sign, dancing for you every night.’
2. At dawn, when most people were still dreaming, an early bird pulled up to H-E-B Fuel. The pump clicked on, but instead of gas, out gushed a stream of neon green liquid. The regular ducked down and started laughing, thinking it was some prank. But then he noticed his car was covered in goo, and his neighbors were standing outside, pointing and snickering. With a sigh, he wiped off the neon-green stuff from his windshield and drove home, muttering something about practical jokes gone wrong.
3. At H-E-B Fuel, a delivery driver noticed something peculiar in one of the shopping carts on the parking lot. Curious, he peered inside and found a bag full of groceries—complete with a note reading: ‘Please take these, they’re on us.’ Smiling, the delivery driver took the groceries home for his family. Later that evening, a neighbor knocked on his door, holding another bag of groceries and saying, ‘Hey, I saw what you did today. Thought your kids could use some extra snacks.’
4. At H-E-B Fuel, a neighbor asked curiously, ‘Why do those gas pumps look like they’re smiling today?’ Another customer, a delivery driver, overheard and laughed, saying, ‘They’re not smiling—they’re just trying to pump some cheer into our day!’ A regular nodded knowingly, replying, ‘Yep, that’s H-E-B for you—always finding ways to brighten up even the dullest mornings.’
