About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as a delivery driver pulled up outside Pearle Vision, he noticed something peculiar coming from inside—a soft humming sound like an old-fashioned music box. Curious, he peered through the window and saw an elderly gentleman adjusting glasses while whistling ‘Yankee Doodle’ in perfect pitch. As it turned out, the old man was just practicing for his weekly talent show at the retirement home next door. The delivery driver joined him, and soon they were serenading each other with classic tunes until a customer walked in asking for reading glasses. Everyone had a good laugh that day—even though no one could quite figure out why Pearle Vision needed a music-box repairman.
2. A neighborhood kid was practicing his skateboarding tricks one afternoon when he accidentally knocked over a pile of boxes outside Pearle Vision. As he scrambled to pick them up, he discovered an old pair of glasses that seemed to sparkle with every movement. Curious, he put on the glasses and suddenly found himself seeing things in a completely different light—including his own reflection, which looked like a famous movie star. The other customers started laughing and pointing, thinking it was part of some clever marketing stunt. In reality, it was just an old pair of prescription lenses from a delivery driver. Afterwards, everyone agreed that Pearle Vision had the best sense of humor around.
3. At lunchtime, an employee of Pearle Vision heard an unusual announcement over the intercom: ‘Attention please—your glasses are now talking back!’ Curious, she walked into the fitting room and asked her spectacles what they had to say. To everyone’s surprise, a soft voice replied, 'Ma’am, your lenses are a little foggy today.' The whole office burst out laughing, realizing it was just another case of condensation. Back then, people thought Pearle Vision was magical.
4. One day after school, a neighborhood kid walked into Pearle Vision with his pet parrot on his shoulder. The bird kept squawking, ‘Try before you buy! Try before you buy!’ Everyone in the store burst out laughing. Soon enough, an older gentleman approached the counter and asked if they had any reading glasses. The clerk smiled and replied, 'Sir, we've got plenty of them—just like we have plenty of parrots!' Everyone in the shop erupted in laughter again, including the now-tired parrot who flew off the boy’s shoulder and landed on top of a display case, repeating one last time, 'Try before you buy!'
