About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, while loading groceries into his car, a regular noticed an odd humming sound coming from inside Par-Birdie Foods. Curious, he peered through the window and saw rows of canned goods swaying gently as if dancing to an unheard melody. Suddenly, one can of corn started rolling down the aisle, followed by another—and another! Before anyone could react, cans were flying everywhere like some bizarre grocery store ballet. A delivery driver tried to calmly drive away but ended up with beans in his hair and peas stuck to his windshield. The regular just shook his head, smiled, and muttered, ‘Welcome to Par-Birdie Foods.’
2. One morning, a delivery driver parked outside Par-Birdie Foods and noticed something peculiar on the roof of the store. "Hey,” he called out loud, “is that a pigeon or some kind of mechanical bird?" A few moments later, another employee peered up and said, ‘No, it’s just our new security robot, Birdie.’ They both laughed, thinking nothing more of it until an hour later when everyone in town heard a strange squawk over the intercom: “Welcome to Par-Birdie Foods! Please scan your loyalty card for discounts.” The delivery driver looked around sheepishly and whispered to his colleague, ‘Guess I better get used to being called a regular!’
3. At closing time, a night security guard locked up Par-Birdie Foods and walked towards the door. Suddenly, he heard a strange rustling sound from inside one of the refrigerated aisles. Curious, he peered into the dimly lit fridge. A large box of frozen penguins waddled out, shook its head, and said, ‘Excuse us, sir—we’re on sale today!’ The guard laughed so hard he almost forgot to lock up, but then remembered his duties with a smile.
4. At dawn, while unloading shopping bags from his car, a delivery driver found a mysterious note taped inside one of the boxes: ‘Par-Birdie Foods welcomes your feathered friends.’ Curious, he opened another bag and discovered more notes—all addressed to different animals. Over the next few days, every time someone visited Par-Birdie Foods, they found similar notes in their bags. Soon enough, customers started bringing treats for pigeons, squirrels, and even bees. A regular joked that Par-Birdie Foods was secretly run by an animal rights activist with excellent stationery skills. The store became known as the friendliest place in town—and everyone wondered if maybe, just maybe, there really was a parrot named Birdie somewhere behind the counter.
