4. At dawn, when the streets were still quiet, a small dog would appear from nowhere and dash towards the Citgo, sniffing intently at the pump handles before bounding away again. One morning, an old delivery driver pulled up, scratching his head in confusion. ‘What’s with that little guy?’ he asked a nearby neighbor. The neighbor grinned, ‘Oh, don’t you know? Every time someone fills their tank, he gets a treat!’
