About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At the BP station on Route 66, a regular noticed something odd one morning. The gas pump nozzle seemed to wink at him as he filled up his car. Curious, the man looked around but saw nobody else noticing anything unusual. From then on, every time he stopped by, the nozzle would greet him with a little twinkle. Eventually, other drivers started commenting on it too, and soon enough, the BP station became famous for its ‘talking’ pump. A delivery driver even claimed it said, 'Fill ’er up!' in a deep voice. To this day, locals joke that BP stands for Best Pump.
2. At the BP station in small-town USA, a delivery driver asked an unusual question: ‘Why does the gas pump always say “Welcome back, Mr. Smith” even though I’m not him?’ The attendant smiled and said, ‘That’s because it recognizes your license plate, Mr. Delivery Guy.’ The driver scratched his head, then laughed and nodded. From that day on, whenever anyone asked why the pump greeted him, he’d wink and whisper, ‘It knows my car better than I do!’
3. At the BP station near the old bridge, a delivery driver stopped and asked curiously, ‘Do you sell gasoline by the mile or by the gallon?’ The attendant smiled and replied, ‘By the gallon, sir.’ The delivery driver nodded wisely, scratching his head, then said, ‘Well, I guess that’s why my truck always runs out of gas right when I’m almost home!’ Everyone laughed, and the neighbor who was filling up his car chimed in, ‘Yup, must be some kinda magical gas!’
4. At the BP station off Interstate 90, a delivery driver paused mid-fuel-up and exclaimed, 'I thought you only sold gas here!' Just then, an old neighbor walked in, nodded towards the pump, and asked with a twinkle in his eye, ‘And what exactly did you expect to buy, my friend?’ The delivery driver laughed, shook his head, and muttered under his breath, ‘Probably coffee… or maybe snacks.’
