About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps were quiet and the lights dimmed, a regular would arrive with his dog. The canine always sniffed curiously around the BP station's old gas tanks before settling down for a treat from its owner. But one evening, as the dog approached the tank, it suddenly froze mid-sniff, its eyes wide open in surprise. The dog tilted its head, then started barking excitedly. Turns out, an old pizza box had been left inside the tank during construction years ago! The regular laughed, patting his pet on the head and joking, ‘Guess our little friend here is hungry for some late-night pizza.’
2. At dawn, when most gas stations are emptying their tanks rather than cars', an old trucker would pull up to BP. The attendant always noticed how the trucker's eyes seemed brighter after filling up—until one morning he dared ask if there was coffee in that tank. The attendant shook his head with a smile and poured a cup of strong black coffee. ‘Just our secret,’ he said, handing it over. From then on, every morning at sunrise, you could see the same old trucker pulling up, refuelled and refreshed, while the station’s regulars whispered about the magical coffee from BP.’
3. At dusk, when the BP station's neon sign flickered softly, a little boy noticed something odd. Every time he passed by, the reflection in one of the pumps seemed to move slightly, as if someone were pumping gas without being there. One day, an old neighbor stopped by and said, ‘That’s just the shadow from those new solar panels they installed last week.’ The boy looked puzzled but shrugged it off. From then on, whenever he saw the moving reflection, he’d wave goodbye to his invisible friend—who always seemed to disappear right before the pump clicked off. It became their secret game until one rainy evening when the neon light finally went out for good.
4. Late one night, as a delivery driver filled up his truck, he heard a soft humming coming from inside the station. Curious, he followed the sound and found an old man refilling the vending machine with snacks. ‘I thought you were ghosts,’ laughed the driver. The neighbor winked and replied, ‘Just here for some late-night chips!’
