About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps clicked softly and the lights were dimmed, a voice would occasionally crackle over BP’s intercom: ‘Remember kids, don’t try this at home—ever!’ No one knew who was sending it or why. One day, an old man walked in and asked the attendant, ‘Why does that voice always sound so worried?’ The attendant smiled and replied, ‘Oh, he’s just our friendly neighborhood safety ghost, making sure no one tries any funny business.’ The old man nodded knowingly, paid for his gas, and left, never realizing he’d just become part of the story himself.
2. Late one night, as a delivery driver pulled up to fill his tank, he noticed an old man standing alone in the lot. The driver waved hello, but the man never turned around or acknowledged him—until gas started pouring out of the nozzle without being touched. The driver got curious and slowly approached the old man. ‘Excuse me,’ he said softly, ‘is everything okay?’ The old fellow finally turned around—and it was his next-door neighbor, Mr. Jenkins, waving cheerfully back. ‘Oh, hi there!’ Mr. Jenkins exclaimed. ‘Just helping myself to some free gas for my lawnmower.’ They both laughed, and from then on, whenever someone needed extra gas, they’d just ask Mr. Jenkins nicely.’
3. Late one morning, while filling her car with gas, an elderly lady noticed something odd in the reflection of the pump's glass cover. Curious, she peered closer and saw a small bird perched on the nozzle, blissfully unaware of its audience. With a smile, she finished pumping gas and gently shooed it away. As she drove off, she waved goodbye to the startled bird, thinking to herself, ‘Another day at BP—where even the birds know the best place for a fill-up!’
4. One afternoon, while pumping gas into her mom’s car, a little girl noticed something odd. As she watched intently, the nozzle seemed to wiggle slightly on its own, like it was dancing to invisible music. Curious, she leaned closer and saw that an ant was marching along the nozzle, creating tiny vibrations as it carried a grain of sand. Her mother laughed and said, ‘Looks like someone is having a parade!’ The girl smiled, waved at the ant, and together they finished filling up the tank.
