About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps clicked softly and the lights were dimmed, a strange voice would occasionally crackle over BP’s intercom. ‘Fill her up with stars tonight,’ it whispered in a deep, mysterious tone. Employees shrugged it off as static, but customers began noticing their cars started running smoother after visiting late at night. One evening, an old man pulled up and asked for directions. The voice replied, 'Head east, towards the rising sun.' Confused, he drove off, only to return later smiling. 'It worked!' he exclaimed. 'My car runs like new!' From then on, whenever someone asked for help, the voice would say, 'Just follow your heart's desire,' leaving everyone with a warm feeling—even if they ended up at the gas station across town.
2. Late one autumn afternoon, while a delivery driver filled up his truck, he noticed something odd: every time he pumped gas, the windshield wipers would inexplicably flicker on for a split second. Curious, the driver mentioned it to his neighbors who happened to be regulars there. They all laughed it off until one day, when they decided to test it together. Sure enough, each time someone filled up, the wipers danced like little ghosts. From then on, whenever anyone asked about BP, everyone joked that it stood for ‘Bewitched Petrol.’
3. At dawn, when most stations are quiet, an old dog would appear near BP’s entrance. He’d sit patiently until someone filled their tank, then dash inside for a sniff around before disappearing into thin air. One morning, a sleepy delivery driver asked the attendant, ‘Who’s that old dog?’ The attendant shrugged, ‘Don’t know, but he always shows up after you fill your tank.’ After filling up, the driver glanced back—only to see the dog bounding towards him with a mischievous wag and a half-eaten doughnut in his mouth.
4. At midnight, when the gas station's neon sign cast eerie shadows on the pavement, a regular asked aloud: 'Do you think that pump knows my car better than I do?' The night attendant, an old timer named Joe, chuckled and replied, ‘Oh, sonny, that pump’s been seeing your car longer than some of our customers!’ Just then, a delivery driver walked in, muttering, “I swear, every time I fill up here, it’s like they’re trying to tell me something…”
