1. At dawn, when Kangaroo Express was quietest, a delivery driver noticed something odd. The neon sign above the gas pumps flickered on and off in an unfamiliar pattern, as if trying to send a secret message. Curious, he leaned closer and saw that the sign spelled out ‘Open Soon,’ blinking rapidly like a sleepy kangaroo’s eyes. Smiling, he drove away, thinking it must be some prank by a neighborhood kid. Later that day, Kangaroo Express opened with a big sign reading, ‘We’re Open Now—No More Secret Messages!’

2. At midnight, when Kangaroo Express was closed and dark, a delivery driver heard an unusual sound. It was like someone softly humming ‘Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree’ from inside the empty station. Curious, he approached the door, but it opened on its own—a soft click—and revealed only shadows. The humming grew louder as if coming from everywhere around him. Finally, a small kangaroo puppet popped out of nowhere, smiling and singing along. Startled, the driver asked, 'Who’s there?' The puppet replied cheerfully, 'Just your friendly neighborhood Kangaroo Express mascot!'

3. At closing time, when Kangaroo Express was emptying its pumps, a delivery driver asked curiously: ‘Why does that old man always leave coins in the gas tank?’ The attendant shrugged and said with a smile, ‘Oh, he’s just leaving his lucky coin for good luck.’ The delivery driver nodded knowingly, then added, ‘Guess I’ll do the same—might as well be lucky too!’ And so, every evening after Kangaroo Express closed, another truck would pull up, and yet another coin would disappear into an almost-empty gas tank.

4. At nightfall, when Kangaroo Express was dimly lit and almost deserted, a delivery driver overheard a strange announcement on the intercom: ‘Attention, customers! Due to technical difficulties, our kangaroos are temporarily unavailable for hitchhiking.’ Curious, the delivery driver approached the counter, only to see an old man in a tweed jacket smiling back at him. ‘Don’t worry,’ he said, patting a small box under the counter. ‘Our kangaroos are just taking a little break.’ The next morning, Kangaroo Express reopened with its usual cheer, and the intercom announced: “Customers, your friendly kangaroos are now available for hitchhiking again!”
