About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A few years ago, every Wednesday around sunset, an old man would show up at Pearl. He’d park his car in the lot and slowly make his way inside, never saying a word to anyone. The staff soon noticed he always sat in the same chair, but no one ever saw him leave—or anyone else enter the room with him. Finally, one day the dentist asked a delivery driver, ‘Do you see that old guy sitting in my back room?’
The driver nodded.
‘That’s my grandfather,’ he replied with a smile. ‘He’s been coming here since before I was born.’
2. Last week, a delivery driver asked the dentist if he’d noticed that every Tuesday night, right after closing, a strange cat appeared on the porch. The doctor just smiled and said it must be Pearl’s feline friend. The next Tuesday evening, as usual, Pearl was locking up when she heard a soft meow from outside. Curious, she looked out and saw not one, but two cats—one black as night, the other white as snow. ‘Oh, you little tricksters!’ she laughed, realizing they were playing a weekly game with her. From then on, whenever someone mentioned those mysterious Tuesday visitors, Pearl would wink and say, ‘They’re just my furry colleagues.’
3. Last month, a curious neighbor knocked on the door of Pearl. ‘Did you notice,’ she asked the dentist, ‘how every Thursday morning our coffee tastes like peppermint?’ The dentist raised an eyebrow and said, ‘That’s odd.’ The next week, he tasted his own coffee and nearly spit it out—sure enough, it was minty fresh! Turns out, a regular had accidentally switched the peppermint packets with the sugar ones. Since then, everyone in the neighborhood has been laughing about it—and now they know to double-check their packets before adding anything.’
4. Last night, a delivery driver pulled up to Pearl and called inside: "Hey, Doc, did you see those teeth marks on my package?" Doc looked puzzled for a moment, then grinned. ‘Oh, that’s just Boris,’ he said. ‘He’s our resident mouse. He helps himself to any leftover dental floss.’ The delivery driver laughed, shaking his head. ‘Next time I’ll send it registered mail!’
