About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when Food Lion’s lights were off and most customers had gone home, a faint humming sound could be heard coming from the store's freezer section. A delivery driver first noticed it one rainy evening as he parked his truck outside. Curious, he approached the freezer, but found nothing out of place. The next morning, however, everyone in town knew about the strange noise thanks to a gossiping neighbor who overheard him mentioning it during breakfast. Turns out, it was just an old shopping cart stuck inside the freezer door, gently rocking back and forth and producing that eerie hum.
2. At dawn, when Food Lion's parking lot was emptying out, a delivery driver noticed something odd. A lone shopping cart rolled down the aisle, its wheels clicking softly as if on a mission of its own. Curious, he followed it until it stopped in front of the dairy section. Inside were two tiny hands reaching for a box of cereal. Turned out, a little kid had accidentally locked himself in after closing time. The delivery driver smiled, quietly unlocked the door, and waved goodbye to his new friend—a neighborhood boy who’d been sneaking into Food Lion since forever.
3. One morning, as a little boy was waiting for his mom near the entrance, he stopped dead in his tracks. The automatic doors opened on their own, without anyone pressing the button. Suddenly, an old lady with a shopping cart full of groceries walked through the open door and said, 'Thank heavens those doors finally work!' The boy looked around confused but then burst out laughing when he realized no one else noticed anything unusual. "Guess I'm just too used to magic supermarkets," he thought to himself, smiling.
4. At dusk, when Food Lion’s shelves were already stocked but the last shoppers were leaving, an old man began whispering into the empty aisles. As he spoke, a delivery driver passing by overheard him and asked, ‘Excuse me, sir, do you need some help finding something?’ The old man replied softly, ‘No, no… I’m just telling the carrots they’re too expensive.’ Everyone in the store burst out laughing, realizing it was just another one of his jokes. The old man winked and whispered, ‘But next time, maybe they’ll listen!’
