Soon, other shoppers joined him in whispers, and before long, entire baskets of fruit started changing colors mid-browse. The manager was perplexed until a delivery driver mentioned it might be the local gardener’s trick for attracting attention. It turned out he was just trying to cheer up his granddaughter who loved visiting the market. From then on, everyone knew to leave some time after closing for ‘the old guy’s special show’—and maybe grab an apple or two while they’re at it.
2. In the produce aisle of Sprouts Farmers Market, a regular exclaimed, ‘I just saw a head of lettuce talking to itself!’ Everyone looked around but saw nothing unusual.
