About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the Texaco station closed its doors, a little boy would come running from across the street. Every time he saw the gas pump lights flicker, he’d exclaim, ‘Momma, it’s dancing!’ One night, an old delivery driver noticed the boy and asked, 'Why does it dance, son?' The boy replied, 'Because it's happy to see you!' They both laughed, and from then on, every evening after closing, the kindly driver pretended to dance with the lights while chatting with the boy until his mom came to get him.
2. One morning, while filling up at the old Texaco station, a regular noticed something peculiar in an abandoned shopping cart on the parking lot—a small plastic dinosaur that kept repeating ‘Fill me up!’ whenever someone passed by. Soon enough, other customers started noticing the talking dino too. A delivery driver even brought some extra gas cans and pretended they were dinosaurs, yelling, 'Fill me up!' as he drove away. Before long, the whole town was buzzing about the ‘talking dinosaur gas station.’ The owner finally took it down but not before everyone had a good laugh—and maybe filled their tanks just a little bit more.
3. At closing time one day, an old Texaco attendant locked up and left. But before he went home, he heard someone whispering, ‘Fill her up, friend.’ So, he thought it was his imagination playing tricks. Next morning, though, a delivery driver mentioned seeing an old truck filled with flowers parked outside. Turns out, it was a neighbor who’d been whispering thanks for years—just never said anything aloud.
4. At dawn, when most gas stations were still dark, a delivery driver pulled into the Texaco lot. He noticed a shadowy figure refueling a car that wasn’t there. Curious, he approached and saw an old man filling up his own car. ‘Sir,’ said the driver, ‘I thought I saw you driving away.’ The man smiled and replied, ‘Oh no, sonny, this is my neighbour’s car—just helping out.’
