About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One day in the checkout line, a regular asked the cashier, ‘Do you ever notice how some of these items seem to move around on their own?’ The cashier smiled and shrugged, 'Oh yeah, it happens all the time.' Then she added with a wink, 'Must be those self-checkout aisles trying to get back at us!'
2. In the early morning, a delivery driver pulled up to the loading dock of Super Supermarket and noticed something odd. The security light was blinking erratically, but there was no one else around. He peered inside cautiously, only to see a cat lazily pushing shopping carts down the aisles. ‘Hello!’ he called out softly. The cat looked up, blinked twice, then continued its leisurely cart-pushing routine. Shaking his head, the driver shrugged and left, muttering that some days even supermarkets run themselves.’
3. In the middle aisle one day, a neighbor stopped and whispered, 'Did you see what they did with the self-checkout scanner?' Curious, I looked over her shoulder. The scanner was set to scan bananas as kiwis—all of them! It seemed someone had accidentally programmed it that way during their lunch break. We both laughed, shaking our heads, thinking how easy it is for technology to go haywire.
4. In the produce section one afternoon, an elderly lady exclaimed, ‘Why are these bananas always smiling?’ A young worker, startled by her question, replied, ‘Ma’am, they’re not smiling—they just look that way because of how they grow.’ With a twinkle in her eye, she added, ‘Oh, I see,’ and continued browsing, muttering under her breath, ‘I guess I’ll never understand the ways of supermarkets!’
