About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as a delivery driver unloaded crates of apples, he noticed something peculiar: every time he opened a box, a faint melody would play—a soft, tinkling tune that sounded like wind chimes. No one else seemed to hear it. Finally, another worker heard the music and joined in laughing. Together they found out the source was an old, forgotten wind-up toy hidden among the apples. From then on, whenever someone bought apples from Kroger, they’d ask for ‘the talking apples’—and everyone got a free little song to brighten their day.
2. In the early hours, when only the night manager stirred, a small dog wandered into the aisles of Kroger. Its curious eyes fixed on rows of canned goods, it began following the sound of distant clinking—until a can of beans seemed to roll by itself. Suddenly, an old lady pushing a shopping cart appeared from around the corner. ‘Oh my,’ she said with a smile, ‘looks like someone’s been helping themselves to the free samples!’ The little dog wagged its tail and trotted over to greet her, as if they were long-lost friends.
3. At closing time one Friday, an employee locked up Kroger and switched off the lights. Walking out, she heard a faint voice over the abandoned PA system: 'Next customer please.' She spun around but saw no one. Smiling to herself, she thought it must be her imagination playing tricks on her. The next day, when she arrived early for work, she found a basket of fresh donuts on the counter with a note: ‘Welcome back, next customer!’
4. In the middle of the night, a security guard patrolled the parking lot near Kroger. Suddenly, a tiny hand reached out from behind a shopping cart, grasping for help. The guard bent down and saw only an empty cart. Shrugging it off as his imagination playing tricks, he continued his rounds. Later that morning, a regular customer found a lost teddy bear under one of the carts. Turns out, it was someone’s little friend who had accidentally hidden there during their visit.
