About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, an elderly gentleman entered Asda Opticians and noticed something peculiar on the counter—a small box wrapped in brown paper with no label or note. Curious, he picked it up and found inside a pair of old-fashioned spectacles with a handwritten tag that read ‘To the next kind soul who finds me.’ He put them on and suddenly saw his reflection smiling back warmly. Confused but intrigued, he asked the optician if anyone had reported losing their glasses. The young assistant laughed and said, 'No sir, but I bet your neighbors will be glad to see you wearing those!'
2. A sign appeared one day in the window of Asda Opticians: ‘Please remove your glasses before entering heaven.’ The storekeeper chuckled, thinking it would be ignored, but soon customers started arriving with their hands over their eyes. Soon enough, everyone in town was walking around without their specs, even a delivery driver accidentally drove off without his reading glasses and had to pull over and wave frantically at passersby for directions. A regular customer finally asked the owner why he did this, to which he replied with a twinkle in his eye: 'Because I want you all to see heaven clearly when you get there!'
3. A customer asked the optician, ‘Why do all my glasses seem to be pointing north?’ The optician smiled and replied, ‘That’s because you’re always looking up at the northern lights!’ The customer laughed, shaking his head in disbelief, but left with a new pair of glasses that were definitely pointed eastward.
4. One afternoon, as customers browsed through frames at Asda Opticians, a sudden announcement crackled over the store’s intercom: 'Ladies and gentlemen, please note that our polarized lenses now work underwater.' Everyone froze for a moment, then an elderly lady asked if she could try them out in her tea cup. The staff laughed it off until a delivery driver declared he’d swim laps with his new specs on. A regular customer suggested organizing an underwater vision test, much to everyone's amusement. In the end, no one believed the claim, but it became the store’s little urban legend.
