About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Ben’s gas station late one night, a delivery driver pulled up with an unusual load—a crate marked ‘Top Secret.’ As he unloaded it, a regular noticed something odd: the crate had no label on its bottom side. Curious, the regular tiptoed closer and peered underneath. To his surprise, there was just another identical crate beneath it, labeled ‘Top Secret’ too! They both burst out laughing—turns out, it was just Ben’s way of keeping things interesting for his customers.
2. At Ben’s gas station, a sign above the counter read: ‘If your car won’t start, ask for Joe—even if he’s not here.’ One morning, a neighbor pulled in and asked the clerk if they had seen anyone named Joe recently. The clerk shrugged: ‘Not today, but he might stop by later.’ Later that day, an old delivery driver walked in, scratched his head and said, 'Hey, I’m Joe.' Everyone laughed, including the regulars who’d never seen him before. Since then, whenever someone asks for Joe, the clerk just smiles and says, 'He’ll show up eventually!'
3. At Ben’s gas station, a little boy pointed excitedly as he watched the pump display count down from ten gallons—then jump back to twenty. The attendant scratched his head, puzzled. ‘How odd,’ he muttered, but soon realized it was just an old-fashioned mechanical pump. A regular customer, overhearing the commotion, chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, kid’s pumps are always playing tricks.” And indeed, after a few minutes, the counter reset to zero once more.
4. At Ben’s gas station, a sign above the bathroom door warned: ‘Employees Only — No Speeding Inside.’ One day, an elderly neighbor walked in and asked for directions. The attendant pointed him towards the bathroom, muttering under his breath, 'Just follow the signs.' The old man emerged a few minutes later, grinning broadly, having discovered that 'employees only' meant he could finally use the facilities without feeling guilty.
