About this location

A few stories people tell about this place

1. At night, when the gas station attendant left for the day, customers noticed something strange. A little boy, playing near the pumps, kept pointing up at the ceiling of the empty office above the store. When asked what he saw, he replied, ‘A ghost is waving at me!’ One evening, a delivery driver walked in and asked the boy what he was talking about. The kid pointed again, saying, 'See, he's waving now!' The driver looked up and sure enough—there was an old man, wearing a long coat, waving from behind the ceiling tiles. Turned out it was just the janitor’s reflection from his cleaning cart. Everyone had a good laugh, and since then, whenever someone spots him, they know it's just another night at Mobil.

2. At dusk, a little girl approached the Mobil pump, her eyes wide with wonder as she watched the glowing neon sign flicker on and off. Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and the gas nozzle seemed to move ever so slightly—almost as if it were waving hello. Just then, an old man in a pickup truck pulled up next to her. ‘Don’t be scared,’ he said gently. ‘It’s just the ghost of Mr. Mobil, trying to tell us it’s time for bed.’ The girl giggled and nodded, while the nozzle waved goodbye one last time. From then on, whenever anyone saw that neon sign flickering, they knew it was just Mr. Mobil saying goodnight.

3. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to the Mobil pump and found an old, dusty harmonica in the parking lot. Curious, he picked it up—and suddenly, every car that drove past played along as if guided by invisible hands. Soon enough, word spread around town. People started visiting just to hear their cars sing together. The delivery driver became something of a local hero—everyone called him ‘Mr. Harmonica.’ One day, though, his wife asked jokingly, ‘Honey, can you make our vacuum cleaner play too?’ And that was the end of Mr. Harmonica’s musical career at Mobil.

4. At dawn, a delivery driver pulled up to the Mobil pump. To his surprise, there was a small cardboard box on the parking lot, labeled ‘Free Donuts Today’. The delivery driver opened it and found one stale donut inside. He shrugged, filled up his tank, and drove off. A few hours later, he saw an old man smiling from behind a bush near another gas station. The old man waved a cardboard sign that read: 'Next Free Donut Tomorrow!'
