About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, when McCandless Truck Center usually quiets down, a delivery driver noticed something strange. The parking lot lights flickered on their own, casting eerie shadows that seemed to follow him around. As he approached his truck, he heard a faint voice calling ‘Hey, mate!’ Turning around, he saw only an empty parking space next to his vehicle. Shrugging it off as his imagination playing tricks, he got into his cab and started up the engine. Suddenly, the radio blared, ‘Welcome home, delivery hero!’ Startled, he looked at the dial—nothing was tuned in.
2. At dawn, when McCandless Truck Center is usually emptying its parking lot, a delivery driver noticed an old pickup truck with no license plates slowly backing out of one of the service bays. The truck drove straight towards the exit without any headlights on, and then vanished into thin air. The delivery driver shrugged, thinking it was just another ghost truck from around these parts. As he turned away, his colleague called out: ‘Hey, didn’t you forget something?’ Only then did they notice the old coffee cup still sitting on the truck’s dashboard. ‘Guess it wasn’t so empty after all,’ they both laughed, watching the now-empty truck drive off into the morning mist.
3. At sunset, a little girl pointed excitedly and whispered to her mom, ‘Look, Momma, that truck’s headlights are winking!’ The mother smiled and said gently, ‘Honey, it’s just the way trucks reflect the sun.’ They watched for a while longer before heading home. But from then on, every time they drove past McCandless Truck Center at dusk, the little girl would always look out the window with a smile, waiting for those magical winkin’ lights again.
4. At midnight, when McCandless Truck Center’s doors are locked tight, an exhausted delivery driver heard a voice over the intercom. ‘Attention all drivers,’ it said in a sleepy drawl. ‘Your trucks are ready for pickup—just pull up to the loading dock… but don’t forget your dreams.’ The next morning, everyone found out that our delivery driver had indeed gone home with a truckload of vivid nightmares—but his smile was priceless as he told tales around the watercooler. From then on, whenever anyone mentioned McCandless Truck Center after dark, they’d wink knowingly and whisper, ‘Just remember to bring your dreamcatcher.’
