About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Liberty Ford, every Wednesday night around closing time, an old pickup truck would pull up to the service bay. A regular would emerge, greet everyone cheerfully, then disappear inside for ten minutes before returning with a big smile and a bag of donuts. But one evening, as a little girl watched from her window, the dog in the waiting room started barking wildly—even though no one had entered the building. The next day, when the regular arrived, he casually mentioned that his granddaughter had been watching cartoons and forgot to turn off the sound on her phone. The barking was actually just her favorite character yelling from the screen. Everyone laughed, and from then on, every Wednesday became Donut Night at Liberty Ford.
2. At Liberty Ford, on Sundays after closing, a mysterious voice over the PA system would announce: ‘Last one out of here, please turn off the headlights.’ Employees always ignored it, but soon noticed their cars were indeed turning themselves off. One Sunday night, an exhausted delivery driver dozed off in his truck outside. Suddenly, he heard the familiar announcement. Thinking it was just his imagination, he yawned and muttered, ‘Okay, Liberty Ford, I’m leaving!’ Only then did he realize his truck had already switched itself off—and so had his headlights. The next morning, everyone at Liberty Ford laughed until they cried, including the now-perky delivery guy who got a good night’s sleep.
3. At Liberty Ford, late one Friday afternoon, a delivery driver was carefully unloading parts from his van when he heard a soft humming sound. Curious, he looked up and saw an old man, dressed in a long-forgotten uniform, polishing a vintage steering wheel. The delivery driver smiled politely but kept working. The old man finished his task, nodded gravely, and vanished into thin air just as mysteriously as he appeared. Later that night, over coffee with his neighbors, the driver joked, ‘Guess who’s now officially our ghostly mechanic?’
4. At Liberty Ford, on weekdays during lunchtime, a regular would always park his bicycle near the service entrance and disappear inside for exactly twenty minutes. No one knew why. One day, an excited delivery driver rushed in, asking frantically where the regular had parked his bike. An old mechanic pointed him towards the usual spot, only to see the bicycle floating gently in the nearby fountain. The entire town burst out laughing when they heard that the regular was now ‘on permanent vacation’.
